    Vintage Lyman D-5 Scale

I'm guessing this one is from the 60's? Box and paperwork. Anyone ever hear of Bair reloading dies?

I have used Bair dies in the past and found them to be excellent dies. If I remember correctly, Bair sold out to Pacific who in turn sold out to Hornady. I could be wrong partially though. james

I believe Bair was made in Lincoln, NE. I had a Bair 12 gauge shotshell reloader back in the 1980's. hc18flyer

My D5 bought new in the late 60s does not have the big D5 sticker on the frame. It has a Lyman Ohaus D5 sticker where yours has the D5 sticker and does not have the sticker on the bottom of the frame. I would guess yours is from the 70s maybe.

If I remember my history correctly, Bair started out as a contract shop making tools for Pacific, then they took some of the designs, modified them slightly, painted them blue, and sold them under their own banner. I have a Glacier Bair 12 ga press on my bench that still cranks out good ammo!
I also have one or two Bair pistol powder measures as well as Pacific versions. The rotors interchange readily.

I'm still using a Lyman D5 that I bought used in 1978. No sticker on the frame. I was told from the guy I bought it from that he had used it for several years but wouldn't weigh consistently. I sent it back to Lyman for repair and have been using it ever since.
