    Shooting Bench

We've been remodeling our house. Decided to build a nice porch, will a little planning I just so happened to have enough matterial "left over" to build a shooting bench. 44" wide at the front, 16" wide at the back, 38" tall. Legs are 6×6 and the top is 2x6 tongue and groove (1.5 x 5.5). Not quite to its permanent location, but close. Used it once between the rains.

Looks great to me. I would make sure to seal up the bottom side or wasp's will fill it up with nests and ruin your day when trying to shoot.

    That is a wise suggestion.

I will agree seal the underside up good so bees and critters cant nest there. but before doing so seal the wood good to keep moisture out I would seal the whole bench with several coats of a good sealer then every year or twice a year if it stays outside.

Looks like a good solid bench.

Very nice and great suggestions above. Even treated lumber these days needs to be sealed.

BTW, if you do not want a box that traps moisture, add a couple of vents with screens.

I would KISS and staple window screening or landscape cloth to the bottom. I have that stuff laying around from other projects and it would be cheap and quick.

Very nicely done. I agree with the others saying seal the bottom to keep wasps at bay. I had some under my bench, and I had to flip it and run.

    Thanks for the compliments gentlemen!

I have plenty of house wrap, but seems to me landscape fabric may work better under the bench since it will let water out.

House wrap will work as it will let water vapor out if that is all you have.
