    Browning Serail Number

Picked up a Browning Lightning over/under recently that I think has a bit of age on it. Lots of info on the internet about s/n's and dates of manufacture but I can't seem to find anything useful.

    Serial number is 9xx S2

Belgian made, any idea when this was made??? Thanks.

    .

Per BBGV (Blue Book of Gun Values) :

    12ga Superposed O/U's

    1961 SN's = 86501 - 96500

    1961 SN's = 96501 - 99999

So....is the S2 part of the serial number?? I thought this simply meant this was a 12 Gauge and the three digit 9XX was the serial number....confusing. Thanks.

    My bad - I mistakenly read the "S" as a "5"...

You gun was born in 1962 - the 1st year of the "S" embeded in the SN.

The whole line ( 9xxS2 ) is the official SN, not just "9xx".
