    I am a moron

I was watching a Ruger no 3 that I had bid on. It was a live auction. I was on break and worried I would not finish before I had to go back. With a few minutes to spare the gun comes up and I bid on it and win. Then I realize I bought the gun before the one I wanted.

I'm the proud owner of a Ruger no 1 in 22-250

AGHHHH!!! But it could be a lot worse, at least you got the same basic rifle and in the fancier version. For my varmint hunter mind, a No 1 in 22-250 is a mighty fine "mistake"!

You're still shaken by the auction. It's excused!

Could have been worse. You could have paid #1 prices for a #3.

I've learned that if you say a couple 'Hail Marys' and a 'Anna-godda-devida', all sins will be forgiven.

I'll move this thread over to single shot guns.
If ya want it back here,,, let me know.

The no3 was rebarreled to 32-40 with very nice wood.

I have one of those. Great fun to shoot and cheap to load. Enjoy!

Congratulations... I think. At least it's a caliber that you can find brass for. Unless... difficult to feed is your preferred variety of cartridges.

Surely you jest?! Yeah, you can shoot cast in a 22-250 but that's like powering a Corvette with a single cylinder Briggs & Stratton engine.

It might make a pretty good showing by casting with Zinc.

Well that’s just terrible! Maybe you should just give that gun to me. At least that way it won’t be around to remind you of the dumb thing that you did! And really I don’t have a problem helping out my fellow forum members! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!

    I agree.
You can eat the small game that you shoot with cast. With regular 22-250 loads, you’ll only find bloody chunks of that animal.
    I’ve been a 22-250 fan since 1972.

If the rifle was a beater then I would say rebore to .250 or .300 Savage. Anyhoo, number 1 prices just keep going up so you could probably flip it for a profit easily.
    Currently casting and loading: .32 Auto, .380 Auto, .38 Special, 9X19, .357 Magnum, .257 Roberts, 6.5 Creedmoor, .30 WCF, .308 WCF, .45-70.

My favorite varmint cartridge, the .22-250! I've owned one since the late 1970's and shot thousands of rounds. Never had one on a Ruger though.

Surely he jests. Great flexibility to be had, from mild to wild with one gun, ie: a .22-250.

Would one drive his Ferrari at 140mph everywhere he went simply because it's capable of super speeds? Of course not.

I am sure it will end up being a good purchase.
