    New guy with some questions

Hello, I'm Mike from San Diego.I've been reading here around for quite awhile but not much posting. I have two rifles I shoot cast in....a TC Contender carbine 30-30 and a Rossi M92 levergun in 357 magnum. The main load I shoot in the 357 is a 158gr RNF, the load is a 38 Special +P in 357 cases. Usually the charge is 5-5 1/2 grs Unique but my Unique supply is getting low. Today I was at a friend's house and he was telling me he had some powder to "get rid of". It was remnants of stuff he had bought at estate sales. I looked at it, mostly old stuff in some pretty neat old 1lb cans. One was a container of w473AA. What I know about it is it's a ball powder and the one burn rate chart I found with 473AA listed shows it pretty close to Unique....between Unique and Herco. It's a 4lb can with at least 3 lbs in it. It was stored well, no acrid smell or any other signs of deterioration. I'd like to get this powder to work for my 357 cast loads. I'm looking for a starting point, something like a published load for 38 special with that powder and I can take it from there. I also would welcome load data from folks that have used it published or not.

Yes it is.....thanks Challenger. Based on Challenger's info I'm gonna start with 5 grs then maybe bump it up a little. Should make it to the range this week for some testing. Will report back

Not sure what u are referring to. I made a couple loads and tried them at the range this week. 357 Magnum Rossi levergun, 158 gr RNF coated Missouri bullet, 5 grs of the 473AA, SPP. This load was a little "softer" than I want so next trip I'll work up a little....Probably try 5.5 and 6 grs with the same bullet. Will report back.
