    What is it?

I scored some 45LC brass at a local gun show. About a 1/3 of the shells were reloads and not trusting somebody else's loads I took one apart. The CB's were a 225 grn FP. The powder surprised me, it was a mix of black flakes and grey chunks. I have never seen anything like it, so I unloaded the rest and all of them had the same powder. The powder charges varied from 5.3 to 6.8 grains. Glad I decided to take them all apart. Any body have an idea of what powder this was? Sorry no pics, just disposed of properly.

I normally call something like that flower bed fertilizer.

Or, pour it out on the ground and let one of the kids lite it.

Top rule of thumb for handloaders: Do not ever identify any powder visually. Winger Ed is correct, pout it out and move on.

Too bad you didn’t take a photo. I’ve seen some that are funny looking. Is HS-6 multi-color?

    Grey chunks sounds like pyrodex
