    30 Carbine, what if?

Most of the published data for 30 Carbine is for 296/110 or powder very close on the burn rate chart. Looking at case capacity, 32-20 seems close enough to make some civilized loads for a revolver chambered in 30 carbine. One could avoid some of the blast and flash by using less of a faster powder.

Now, What if some of the 32-20 recipe handloads made their way into a carbine? Would they damage it, or just cause malfunctions?

32-20 level loads won’t function semi auto in my(wife’s) Carbine- but are still fun. If they are light enough, it’s becomes a straight pull bolt action.
It works best with the full power loads using W296/H110 like you mentioned.
I’ve read of several people loading the .30Carbine round to 32-20 level for the Blackhawk.

I have a magazine article from the 60's, where the author (machinist really) converted an M1 Carbine to shoot 32-20; crazy stuff for sure. I have the PDF if anybody wants it.

N110, IMR 4227, and 2400 will work quite well in the 30Carb. They will cycle the action reliably without too much muzzle blast/flash. I don't own a 30 Carbine revolver, but if I did, I wouldn't hesitate to try some reduced pistol velocity type loads in it.
