    Winchester 7.62x39 SPP Brass

If not the right place please move.

I was depriming some 7.62x39 brass that I got from a member here and lo and behold I saw the primer pockets on the Winchester brass was small primer!
    Has anyone else noticed this?
I have more small rifle primers than large so this is a blessing!

Yes, 7.62X39 brass has been made with both LRP and SRP size primer pockets. In today's market, I would prefer SRP brass.

I understand and my supply of 6.8 SPC brass has both sizes of primer pocket.
I don’t prefer either one but I’m glad to have both!

The bulk of my 7.62x39 brass hoard is LRP (Fiocchi & PPU), with only a small stash of same with SRP (Rem).
When loaded the same (123 V-Max & AA1680) and fired from a CZ527 at 100-yards, the point of impact and groups differ greatly between primer size. Which is not a surprise considering the brisance difference factor between large and small primers on an equal charge weight. In my case, the SRP's always run slower and print lower than the LRP's. Group size is about the same though.
So primer size will make a difference on downrange performance.

Yea I bought some 7.62x39 WW white box 123gr FMJ at Sportsmans Warehouse and it has small rifle primers. My Howa mini didn't like them, my Windham ar loves them.

This is good to know. I had not heard of 7.62x39 with SRP before this and would not have thought it would make any noticeable difference in a case with such small capacity. I'd like to get a few hundred of them since I have way more SRP's than LRP's as do most nowadays.
