    300 bo neck turning

I have 5 gallon buckets of range brass and am tired of not using half of it due to thick necks from converting overseas brass. I am interested in neck turning. But I never have done it before, I know there is neck outside turning and inside neck reaming. What is the fastest and is there a tool just designed for 300 blk as i will never do it with any other calibers. I use normal lee dies and little crow case trimmers if that affect anything. Open to any suggestions.

300 B.O. brass is to cheap to mess around with neck turning.

I do both neck turning and reaming. Neck turning is done for fitted chambers. Reaming is when there more than 1 pass to turn or I just need to thin some necks for a factory chamber. On one wild cat both are done.
In your case a neck reamer in a trimmer may be more than sufficient. But neck turning is an option. When I neck ream its in a die that guides the reamer in alignment to the case. Reaming alone wont correct necks that are uneven as the reamer will follow the hole. Neck turning will. Start by getting a good measurement of the neck walls thickness at several places and several cases. add this average x 2 to bullet dia to get an idea where you are at.

I use the RCBS and a large chuck on variable speed elec drill. Works fine - just don't try using the 'hand' holder part - ouch. Basically comes with a 30 cal spud and cutter. Inside reaming doesn't create a even neck thickness.
    Whatever!

How much Blackout brass do you lose? Trade your range brass 2 for 1 for headstamps that work.

Its a easy process and most reloading manufacturers offer tools to accomplish this.

Reaming is INSIDE and a DIFFERENT animal. Turning is like a mini lathe and removed material from outside of case neck. As stated simple setup and can be done by hand or with a small drill
    Motor.

I just orocessed lil over 100 7.62x39 into 6arc and I turned necks. Fed and Rem cases left quite thick necks. Winchesters and PMC where still quite uniform. I turned to 13-13.5.

Ill have a video up later this week.

imashooter2, it is not that I lose a ton of brass, but I would rather have the tools to make it, then go threw another covid shortage and not be able to get it. I do shoot a ton of 300 blk with cast 230 and do lose more than I wear out. Does anyone have the k&m neck turning equipment? any experience with it?
