300 BO. 264gr coated bullet

Received this mold in the mail today. Accurate 31-264. Can't wait to cast in the morning. I have a new Remington 700 300 Blackout 1/7 twist. I can't remember being this excited to try a new mold

I have load data from JD Jones for the 300 Whisper he invented, and 250 grain matchking’s which were discontinued before the 240 grain smk came and went. Several powders shown for subsonic and even a few supersonic loads with the 250 grain. Shouldn’t be difficult to interpolate up from there. Let us know how much they weigh with your alloy please.

I have some different powders to try. H4198 is what I will start with. I have always liked 300/321 , blackout or what ever you want to call it in a slower twist for lead bullets. I just wanted to see if I can make the 1/7 work. I'm planning to work from 900-1150 fps searching for a accuracy.

I have been working a 300 Hamr bolt gun project. I kind of bought this Remington blackout on a whim .

Was it Remington that made a batch of rifles with 1/10 twist that were marked 1/7 and let them into the wild? Not trying to rain on your parade, but you might check it with a patch and cleaning rod to see what the twist really is.

SKK data doesn’t show 4198. They show supersonic loads with Reloader 7, 1680, and H110. A few others are used subsonic. Do you have Quickload?

No, you could use a larger caliber.

I get your point, but will you be able to jam enough powder in it to get that bullet down range? If you’re compressed and jamming the lands but can’t get it fast enough to go.

I’m interested in knowing if your experiment works.

I shot a bunch of noe 225 grain with h110 through 1-7" ruger ranch rifle. It is fun.

Heavy for caliber is my preferred way. 1/7 twist should be enough to stabilize.

Don't overlook IMR4227. I have ran as high as a 245 grain bullet with full function in an carbine length AR. should be 9.5 grain.

Yes he did. Load data was provided with the barrel I purchased from SSK but the 250 grain matchking had already been discontinued at that point in time. I just used the 240 grain in the data for the 250 grain.

New mold day is the best, except for that dang break in period.. Very cool, I remember when this bullet was designed and didn't know you could buy the mold for it. My 1:7 barrel stabilizes the NOE 247 without issue, no bolt gun in blackout yet but I shoot a 315gr in the 338 Spectre. The great thing about bolt guns is you can use fast pistol powders to make them super quiet. Blackout will have a different case capacity so your mileage may vary, but powders in the Blue Dot to Longshot burn rate are ideal for the Spectre bolt action. I have tried even faster powders such as Win 231 which successfully got the bullet down range, however I only made it to about 900 fps before it started popping primers.

I don't have Quickloads. I have a old Sierra pistol manual that I bought in the early 90s. It has 300 whisper data up to 240gr.

The twist is 1/7. I would have loved it to be 1/10.

I have 4227. I curious about some of the faster powders like Red Dot. Or unique.

Hodgdon has load data for 265gr acme coated bullets that includes a bunch of powders including IMR 4227, IMR 4198 and H4198.

First casting session went well. I scrapped the first hundred or so. I had this mold made in steel to help retain heat. It cast great. Can't wait to get them coated. Its raining so probably won't try Hitek coating today.

Adi 2207 only goes to 230 grners with 10.8 grns
