This fixture allows me to baize silver solder or tig weld band saw blades for my saws.
The back edge that aligns and locates the back of the blade is under cut 45* so the blade is held down the full length in the back four clamps hold it down also. To solder or braize you need an angled cut and to skive the edges. But when ground down and flat you dont need to anneal tig the angled cut is recommended but you have to anneal after grinding the weld down.

I cant justify a actual blade welder for the shop for the little I use it.

Nice jig! I rarely have to weld a bandsaw blade but have used a simple backer and a couple clamps in the past. That looks much nicer and no third hand needed!

It gives me some options. I normally buy my blades made but occasionally I need to drill a hole and run the blade thru to cut "inside" dosnt happen often. I ve used the blade welders at work and while nice with the grinder and anneal features. I cant justify the cost for the use one would get.
Also I would get very far thru a roll of blade. Maybe if I find a roll at a shop auction I might weld some up.
