    Accurate 2700

    Anyone use this powder?
I loaded up some 220 Swift ammo and went to the range today and I had a series of ftf where the primer was struck but it didn't go bang.
It was cold today 10° I thought that may have something to do with it or I thought I could have a bad batch of primers, but that is unlikely
So I come here and ask if any of you all have had troubles with this powder.
I may retest with magnum primers.

A2700 is my go-to powder in 25/06win. deer load. 25yrs no problems. couple things to check. is this a bolt gun, in that cold weather maybe the firing pin is hanging up. were the hits deep enough? were the primers seated deep enough?
I keep the ammo inside pocket and keep it warm.

I did have a ftf on an elk hunt once. The bolt of the gun involved had some cold lube slow the firing pin strike down enough to cause the ftf. Cleaned out the lube back at the camp, no lube on firing pin or in the bolt body, went bang the next day, no problem! Reoiled the bolt once I got back to Louisiana. Might be your problem. Yes, it was about 10-15 degrees when it happened. Good luck.
AA2700, loaded a bunch of it. Never used in cold weather, though. Be safe.

I've used moderate charges of AA2700 for heavy boolit loads in .30-06 and can state from experience that it definitely prefers magnum primers. Accuracy with R-P LRs was marginal, at best, and I'd get an occasional "click...bang". Switched to Fed LR Mags and...voila!...groups tightened up and no more ignition hiccups.

never could find a use for 2700 so it sets in the powder safe, maybe I should pour it out and burn it...

I use it in a .270 Win. with 150gr bullets. It always goes "bang", is accurate and gives respectable velocities.

I believe you all have helped me out.
I checked the bolt and there was some grease on the bolt
thinking being so cold it affected the firing pin
good folks here thanks to all
