    25 Remington

Going through old cigar box, with mixed shells.Spotted some green corrosion inside box.Turns out the culprit is a 25 Remington shell. A few other ones next to it also contaminated.Think it's time to make a display board.

Back in the 60's an old gentleman gave me a unfired 25 Remington shell he had laying around. It was from a rifle he had years ago. Sort of planted a seed, now have almost two shoe boxes of different stuff. Nothing really rare but fun to look through.

He was an old bear hunter from the mountains of NC and could tell some tales. Wish I could remember his name, a really nice old guy. He had sold the 25 and bought a Savage 99 in 300 Savage, beautiful rifle. Good memories.

I have several boxes like that too. I keep intending to put them in some sort of display box with labels and a glass front but never seem to get around to it. Love looking at all the old cartridges and recalling the stories of their development or imagining how shooters might have viewed them when they 1st came out. Not sure if I have a 25 Remington or not?

Stop while you can, collecting old ammo is addictive leading to packed shelves of all sorts of stuff nobody can use and empty wallets.
