Remington 550-1 floating chamber

I inherited this .22 from my uncle. Took apart, while watching Carbine Williams and others there is this floating chamber supposed to be in there. Don’t know when this was apart last for cleaning, but it shoots well .22LR. Don’t have any shorts which it’s supposed to shoot well with this floating chamber.

Got it apart down to the area it is in and soaking in Ed’s Red. Is there a secret to getting out will I need to pull sear trigger Assy. out, they are pined in, and the problem child screw spring Assy. that touches the sear?

I have one for 40 years but never had it apart. Every few years I take the rear nut off and spray wd40 and blow dry. Then I spray gun oil and blow dry and good to go. There is no need to take it apart if all is well. It's easier to inspect removing the stock. I keep it loaded but the chamber is empty and no tension on the trigger.

I no longer have a 550 but have had several, should have kept the last one. It has been a while since I took one apart but you have to remove the mag tube and there is a screw that holds the floating chamber in place. Do not remove the sear and sear spring cap from the rifle. I did and took me two days to replace it, four hands are not enough. A brushing and some compressed air should be fine. All take down instructions advise taking those parts out unless necessary and I agree.

In my opinion the 550 is one of the finest 22 auto's ever made.

Yes i watched several vids on that sear spring deal and recognized when to stop. Pulled the screw that holds the mag tube, it moves back and to but didn't pull hard on it. Will let soak over night and try again tomorrow. Thanks for the advice, really gives me confidence to continue.
