Ordered on the 13 (evening) and received it today. I'll say those guys are fast. Looks good, charging it up and will see what it does.

It doesn’t have a huge internal memory so it is essential to have it automatically upload to your the phone app, or you should record data separately. After a while when you start a new session it will warn of being out of memory and ask if you want to overwrite the oldest session or cancel. Obviously the phone app will store tons of sessions.

It is so simple and reliable it is a pleasure to use at the range.

Took out this morning. Shot 3 different 45acp ammo with my kimber 3" barrel pro carry. Didn't miss a shot. And as expected, the cheap ball held closer deviation than the 200g cast and the 118gr sintered loaded with my dillon 650xl and Tite Group. Then I took my new Aegis with 4" barrel and shot 4 mags x 8 of the cheap ball as it's not broken in yet. I was shooting various steel and one target and yes, you have to keep the pistol shots over the garmin. It missed 10 of 32. But again the ball ammo almost perfectly matched the 3" except 50fps faster out of the longer barrel.
I wasn't being as careful with positioning.
But I'll go and play some more... so far so good

I am glad you got one from them. "No Sales To Alaska" That's a common story!

I was talking to Creedmoor Sports today and they told me that Garmin will not ship to you and Black Flag you if you try to sell that Product below $599.95! And that's a Big Period and Exclamation Point after that.

The only break you can get is Free Shipping and maybe the place won't collect Sales Tax like most do for CA Sales.

Anything you see for less is NOT a REAL GARMIN PRODUCT!

And now it's Raining here so I am put off until it stops.

Not true. While they do price fix for printed ads you can often find a hidden discount code. I got $100 off mine. It is not counterfeit and when I paired it to my phone I registered with Garmin and they downloaded an update. I doubt Garmin would do this for a knockoff.

I would not buy a Garmin off of ebay but if you search around message boards you can find one from a legit seller for around $500. Just make sure they are legit and others have ordered from them.

The Chinese do knock off our products routinely. I have "Stinger" that I bought from the Dillon Catalog for $9.95. It is a little "Tee handle" that works like a single brass knuckle, and I carry it everyday!
The company is "Combat Technologies Inc. " and right next to it it says "Made in USA!"

However it was NOT made in the USA and I know this because we bought one for my wife off the internet that is a pretty Blue Clear Plastic and it came from China and was dropped from the EXACT same Mould as mine was! $1.50 with Free Shipping and showed up less than a week after it was ordered from China!

I have included a picture of both side by side and I can assure you that they both came from the Exact Same mould and are perfectly Identical except for the plastic used and there were several choices on what color you wanted as well. Point being the people at Combat Technologies are either lying about the origin of their product or the Chinese have developed a method of perfectly duplicating a $10,000 mould, which seems pointless for a product worth $1.50.

Look at the pics and see if you can see any differences. My 50 years in Machine Shops says you can't. I included the Second Pic taken from a different angle so that you might see that the Lettering on the parts is identical. Hard to see?

I even looked at them together under my 10X Microscope when we first got the second one and they even have the same small imperfections in the Lettering and Sprues, hence the exact same mould for both parts.

It is not a big stretch for the Chinese to knock off an identical product, they do it all the time, and Especially if they are making the original in the first place?

It is not uncommon for a shop to run a few extra parts when doing a job like this as you can maybe sell some more than the original order. Or in this case just put them up on the internet and see if they sell?

I maintain that the Chinese have never had an original idea in their entire history, including Gun Powder which probably came from some Mongolian Goat Farmer who figured it out while sitting by a Campfire Pit dug out of Salt Peter and as soon as the fire burned down to charcoal someone tried to relight it and it blew up in their face !

I definitely see "Plausible Deniability" working here? YMMV?

My point was the garmin has some sophisticated software that automatically contacts the company when synced with you phone and downloads updates if they are availible. There is no serial number on the garmin and they didn't ask me for it when registering it. Pretty sure the serial number is stored internally like in a phone. They know which ones are legit.

I am sure there are or will be knockoffs made so if you get one and the software won't pair with a phone or it won't let you register then it is a knockoff. But even then you can use it as a stand alone chrony. I rarely even use the app on my phone and if it already works what is in these "updates"?

The garmin i bought from the NOTJUSTGUNS site posted above sells legit Garmins. Mine updated with Garmin website automatically and I've the garmin app on my phone which connects perfectly with the chrono. I've received emails showing it is registered with Garmin. Now alibaba junk is just that.
Also the notjustguns site has in stock the knives my customer makes and sells to Nighthawk. I've had the pleasure of engraving his logo and the Nighthawk logo on the knives and it's for sure my work. Just sayin.

Oh, if you guys want a sun shield for one, I'll post the link in the 3dprinted area.

Brownells offers military/vet/first responder and FFL holders "member" discounts on most items. I got my Garmin for about $43 off of the catalog price, and they quickly ship to Alaska at reasonable rates.

Communism is good at copying, but not too good at original ideas as it does not support individual initiatives, which is paramount in the creation of new technology.

I absolutely must save every penny I can on my purchases or else I cannot play at all. So I sometimes buy from China. People whom are insistent on buying "only American" are delusional, as that's just not even possible. Nearly everything is made there anyway.

If an item is under 100 bucks, I will attempt to source and buy it China direct, and save a bunch. Anything over 100 bucks, and I defer to buying from an American vendor to get the guarantee.

I hated to pay such a price, but I bought my Garmin chrono from a safe source. It wass too big an investment for me to chance anything else, though I am pretty dam sure the thing is made in China anyway.

Again, I certainly do not begrudge a company making a reasonable profit, but "price gouging" has become the new business model nowadays. It brings "Charge what the market will bear" to a whole new level!

My Garmin Xero was made in Taiwan. At least it's not made in communist China.

I got schooled on some of this a while back. I was replacing all the wheel bearings on my boat trailer, and I was determined to buy top quality American bearings. After many hours of digging, studying, and searching, I was horrified to find out that all the top name bearings like Timken, etc., ---> are now made in CHINA!!

Remember when it was of very high strategic importance to bomb the ball bearing factories in Nazi Germany?

    Yeah...

We don't even MAKE our own now!

But anyway, it's of no use to try to buy American.
