    7.5 Swiss

Is anyone loading 7.5 x 55 with CFE223 or StaBall 6.5. I want to use the Sierra 168 Tipped MatchKing bullets. The rifle is a K31.

    Thanks.

    That went well.

How about Accurate 2460 or Hodgdon Benchmark?

    Thanks.

I prefer imr brands instead of the big H. They got reloading books out there that list all the possible combo.

Personally I would go with a bullet closer to the GP11 load which was 175 grain.

The 168 SMK bullet over a 'starting load' of Win 748 shoots precisely to the sight graduations out to 300 meters from my pre-war K-31. Same rifle also likes the RCBS 30-165SIL, PC'd and loaded over a moderate charge of IMR4198 for a bit over 1800 fps.

Where did find a published load with 748? I love 748 but never found any data using that powder in 7.5x55.

Probably not a 'published' load. It's been a while (the card in my reloads 'recipe file' is dated '09/24/07') but, IIRC, it was something I ran across on the Swiss Rifle Forum or, maybe, an old magazine article (Rifleman? Handloader? Something else?) after I sold my 7BR silhouette gun and had quite a bit of leftover 748 on hand. Range notes on the back of the card indicate load shoots to same POA as milsurp G11.

I run 43.9 gr of IMR 4064. It is the accuracy load in the Sierra manual and they were/are right. It's not a hot or over pressure load at all. Just middle to upper end and super accurate.
CFE 223 is a number of slots slower on the burn rate chart, so published loads with 4064 or even Varget will be safe with CFE 223. With the powders you listed, I would start working with the CFE 223 1st. I know a handful of guys shooting it in 308 Win and getting great results with both accuracy and velocity. As always, start low and work up......

175 Matchkings and around 50 grains of Re-17 is an excellent clone for G11, It's right on my sights adjustments to 600 anyway ( as far as I've shot it) K31

    I load 44gns of 2209 with Hornady 168 bthp in my K31
I have chrono velocity written down but can't remember off hand. It correlates with the sights and gives 31mm groups at 100yds with the open sights.
Can come back with FPS and ES.

Norma loads a 200 grain match grade moly coated boattail and seats it very deep in deference to the K31 short throat. I'd use IMR4831.

Even fired in my 96/11 it shot very accurate like several shots into one ragged hole.
