5744 powder equivalent here in Aus?

Good afternoon gents. I hope all is well. I am looking for a new powder for my '73 WCF. I read an article from kirkD some time ago and had amazing results from 5744. Does anyone know who makes this powder and do we have an equivalent here in Aus?
Any info in this regard wood be greatly appreciated.

    Regards

    Bob.

Check out whether you can source Lovex DO60 powder which is very similar to 5744.

Isn't D060 Lovex the same as Shooters World Buffalo Rifle?

Yes, Shooters World Buffalo Rifle is rebranded D060. Supposedly 5744 was originally D060 then at some point General Dynamics started supplying Accurate Powder with an equivalent.

When 5744 became really scarce here for a while a few years back, I replaced it with RE-7 and Red Dot depending on the rifle and they were almost as good.

When Shooters World first started selling Buffalo Rifle, it was a lot less expensive than 5744. Considering what 5744 was going for then, somebody was making a fortune on that stuff. It didn't take long for Buffalo Rifle to rise in price though. Powder prices in general are pretty pricey in my area. I have seen 5744 priced at $57 lb.

The current 5744 sold by Accurate is made in Canada. In the past the 5744, called xmp5744 at the time was made by Lovex in the Czech Republic. My understanding is the Lovex DO60 and Shooters World Buffalo Rifle are the same powder and identical to the xmp5744 sold by Accurate when it was made Lovex. I still have a bit of the Accurate xmp5744 along with a bunch of the current 5744 and it looks identical, unknown if the formulation is different though. Seems to perform identically with the same loads as far as I can tell. Can't speak for other calibers but in 45-70 it performs the best with 500+ grain boolits.

I've always used it for all the old winchester rifle sized cartridges, never even considered it for pistol cartridges. Actually, I prefer black powder in most all old cartridges that were designed for it.
