In the 20 some odd years that I've been reloading, I've never messed with Blue Dot. Ever since I first got into the gig I was warned about Blue Dot being temperamental. This was enough for me to find a different powder. Although, I do hear it is a fantastic powder for Shotshells. Something I don't load much of. With that said, I never have been in a situation where I needed a powder, and that powder just happened to be Blue Dot. Bullseye, Unique, Red Dot, one of the Ramshots, 2400, 4227, and H110 pretty much cover all of my needs for pistols, and some rifles. Of those, I probably use more Unique, Red Dot, and Bullseye than anything else, and in that order. The rest are for specific purposes, though I'm getting more and more fond of the Ramshot powders...

Since we have already some substantial thread drift......Larry, have you ever tested .22LR and/or .22 Magnum factory ammo?

Blue Dot used to be my go-to powder for jacketed bullet .357 Mag. Specifically, 140 grain jhp using the top load listed in Speer No. 11.

No, don't have a 22 Magnum and just never thought about pressure testing 22LR.

ive used unknown pounds of blue dot and never had a problem in 44 special and 44 mag loads before BE86 or 300 MP were invented but these days those are the two powders I use quite often in 357 and 44. I keep the few pounds of blue dot I have left for 1 1/4oz 12 gauge loads
