    1892 winchester

I’m trying to find a source for any section views or blue prints for a 1892 winchester

No need for an exploded view, need a flat section view to make one!

Might check with Steve @ https://stevesgunz.com/ . He had some unfinished 92 frames.

If you find a source for blueprints, please post the site.

not sure ---believe he started with 44/40 actions

I did a 25/20 to 38/40 conversion --- lots of work! if you like a challenge or enjoy the learning experience its good

Don’t know if that reply was to me, but I usually start from bar stock, if you access the archives you can see some of my past builds, hi walls and hepburns

I think I remember one of the hepburn threads, but it's been a few years now.

I'm excited to follow the 92 build!

Bill - just a general comment re the time involved in that conversion - I would do it again for the learning experience and the challenge - I am a backyard bush machinist with rudimentary equipment - I know the 92 winchester pretty good - they are a complex piece of machinery - getting one to feed sweet and slick is no easy job - is why I suggested a working model to copy from - I have searched in vain for blueprints - no doubt they out there someplace .
I dont have the equipment nor the expertise to scratch build a 92 frame - have done some of the internal parts.
If I was to embark on a project of that scale it would be a 76 winchester. I reckon much easier to do and three times the value when you got it done. or a sharps or roller - more so again.

I'm sure a detailed blow by blow of your build would be well received by many here - me included. Good luck with it.

My custom build started as a 32WCF and the action was opened up, trued, color case hardened, full length magazine and 44 barrel liner. Now a 44 Special that holds 14 rounds!

Gunsmith costs were $1200 and rifle (1912 manufacture) was provided.

These pair (consequetive Ser No.s 4 digit) were made in 1892 and in 38/40. My collection of '92's is nine in all chamberings.
