    Western Super X 44 Magnum Lubaloy 240 grain (44MP)

I have two full boxes of this from the sixties. It appears to be cast bullets with no jacket. I would like to know the ballistics. Actually I would like ballistics from a rifle as I am considering using it in my Ruger semi auto. If someone has experience with it in use for hunting that would also help. Any info would help. Dave

I had a box of that factory ammo and it leaded like crazy in my model 29. I never ran any across a chronograph but was some hot stuff, probably approaching factory JSP velocities. I shot it up and reloaded the cases.

    Greetings,

Pull one of the bullets. I recall that Western used a gas check.

If I am wrong, you are only out one bullet.

    Cheers,

    Dave

Heck man that’s pretty cool. I’d like to see the boxes.

Shot lots of Lubaloy handgun ammunition from 32 ACP up through 44 Magnum. The "Lubaloy" appears to be just a copper wash and doesn't "lube" anything. Never found a single round that didn't lead, sometimes severely.
