This rifle was gifted to me by my close friend & hunting partners . The 1903 was sporterized 1938 the owner hunted this rifle Africa ,Japan , and many other countries on a year long global hunt . The rifles capabilities far exceed my marksman ship -old & shakey .
That is a nice rifle, and classy. I also have a nice sporter that my late uncle sporterized in the early 60's, when everyone was doing it.
I restored it last year, with my own additions, and would never part with it. Like I said, yours is classy.
