Looks like a great start. I have gotten as far as cutting an 8 in. saw blade in half on my project.

Bazoo, I'm glad you posted to this thread. I visited this forum for a while, then lost it. Just the other day I looked thru all the forums looking for a knife sub-forum but didn't find it. With your post it showed up in "unread posts". Thank you.

44 RF Express: That's a nice looking knife you made there. AEB-L is one of my favorite steels for knifemaking. Do you do your own HT'ing? Or send it out? what Rc do you use for AEB-L blades? That masurbirch scale material is something I had to look up. It does make a very nice looking handle. Good work.

Dandy work! With care that knife will last several lifetimes. Expect it will be a treasured item for that youngster.

    Nice job!

masurbirch, I had to look that one up. Here's what I found:

Masur Birch (also known as Karelian Birch) is not a species in of itself, but rather a particular grain figure that occurs in various species of European Birch. The result is a beautiful marble like figure - a mix between burl and birdseye. The cause of this figure is uncertain.

60 Rc is a good place for a knife- still fairly easy to sharpen and will hold an edge
