    Yet another squirreling load

Yesterday I loaded the Lee 55gr(sized .225” Sage Aluminum gas check,LLA) over 3.6 grs(,3cc) of AA#2 in the .218 Bee. I used the last of my Remington 6-1/2 primers.
I shot this target at 40 feet, the hole on the right is from a different load(40gr jhp over 4227). Later, from the 40 yard becnch I tried one shot on a scrap of target.

    Look out, fancy rats!

It rained last night and it’s cool this morning- it’s beginning to feel like hunting weather!

Love the 218 Bee, I have a T/C Encore with a 24 in barrel and a contender with a 16 in barrel both are deadly accurate out to a 100 yds. with cast boolits.

Texas: that load should be getting you a little over 1400 fps. What's that smell? Oh yeah, that would be squirrel stew with biscuits.

The 218 Bee is such a versatile cartridge. I found a Martini Cadet cut barrel, then an action and built a rifle around it. Later found a #1 SC in the 218. Both rifles shoot exceedingly well, sub 1/2 inch at 100 with J bullets from 35s to 53s. I do not cast 22 cal bullets very often but a light load would be very quiet in a longer barrel. Good setup for squirrel hunting.

Go gettem, and be sure to post copious amounts of photos of game taken with these loads. I've been hunting more squirrels the past two seasons than I have in the past 30 years. The fun is back with 22lr hp's. The recipes they have been added to have warmed my taste buds all the more, as well. O, just remembered, there are two pieces left in the refrigerator that needs to be consumed tonight.

This is from sandbags @40 yards.
The bullets here are the same just PC’d.
The Bee’s big brother .44 -40 needed the dust blown out of its barrel before deer season starts…..

Those NEF single shots are a real joy to carry in the woods. Mine is a 50 cal muzzle loader with a heavy barrel but in spite of that, the skinny little receiver makes it carry like a stick. You are making me want one chambered for a small round like the Bee of something similar. I have a 218 but it's a Ruger No 1. Great little cartridge.

I carried the Bee on my walk this morning. I only saw one squirrel, it was so busy that it never set still long enough for me to get a shot off……
But lots of does around, and this guy was looking for one at my house….
