    Alignment Pins

How are the alignment pins and socket installed in the mold blocks? Are they pressed in? Are they much different from maker to maker?

I'm thinking of converting a bottom pour to nose pour, but one of the alignment pins are not in a good place and needs to be relocated.

The molds I have are pressed in - but some are pressed to a counterbored shoulder so you have to remove them from the proper side.

Before I spent much time trying to do some very precise (home shop) machining
on a good mold block and maybe ruin it,
I'd check into the price of buying what you want from one of the custom mold makers.
You'll only have to cry once to get exactly what ya want, and it'll last longer than you will.

Some folks like to experiment...I like my little Lee hand primer tool from 40 years ago but can't get shell holders anymore (the ones with the letters), so I decided to make my own. I ruined the first two attempts but the next two came out fine. I now have one for a .32-20 and another for .45-70. It helps to have a home machine shop...
