Good stop offs as travelling to FL

    Hey all,
I am travelling south to visit Mom in FL (North FL, Flagler beach area.)
Heading down 95 but would detour if something cool
Don't really need anything specific but am wondering if there are any cool stop offs along the route for casters/loaders/shooters.
For example I had a ball stopping off at Brownells on a trip west a few years back.
    I see midsouth shooters supply
As a possible detour, kind of faroff the path but maybe... a place or two in GA maybe or places local to her area?
    Sponsors here?
Thanks in advance for any ideas
    Best regards
    Rich

South of DC, the Marine Corps museum at MCB Quantico is pretty cool and the detour off I-95 onto US-1
I think is less than a mile or so.

Castillo de San Marcos in St. Augustine. If you ever thought you had it tough, look at how these folks "lived".

    https://www.nps.gov/casa/index.htm

There is a restaurant on the docks before you cross the bridge over the Matanzas River near the fort. The seafood platter is pretty good.

From there you can take the A1A route south to Flagler Beach. Anastasia Island just south of St. Augustine and a little farther south just past Crescent Beach is Marineland. U of F has a good size research station there. Keep heading south (the ocean's on your left) you'll pass through Washington Oaks and shortly you'll be at Flagler Beach and will have enjoyed the beach route instead of the I-95 or US-1 multi lane traffic hoard.

Buccee's between Jackson and St Augustine

Buccee's is an experience to behold and has the cleanest bathrooms that you will find on your trip.
Their food is excellent as well.

From their web description: Chain of convenience stores for snacks & drinks, plus eclectic themed T-shirts & knickknacks.

It's not a day long visit, but well worth the stop!

It's right on I-95. There will be signs along the way!

I looked. It's the only one on I-95 along his trip. There is another on I-95 just south of his destination.

If you stop at Buccee's--- don't buy the beaver nuggets.
They are more addictive than cocaine.

Turn right and travel the Skyline Drive through the Shenandoah National Park. Worth the detour.

Only if you have time. The road becomes the Blue Ridge Parkway and continues down to Cherokee, NC. That becomes well out of your way. Skyline Drive just goes through the Park, but the Blue Ridge Parkway is part of the National Park System as well.

There's a brand new Buccees just north of Florence SC @ I-95 exit 170, near the NC/SC line.

Do stop at a Buccee's and try the Chopped BBQ Brisket Sandwich ... Realy Good Eats.

My wife is on her way back to Louisiana from a Florida visit and she has instructions to bring me back 2 chopped Brisket Sandwiches and a bag of Buccee's Chocolate Covered Banana Chips ... another addictive product that place sells ...
But Dang ... the chopped Brisket and Banana Chips are so good !

Wow! Thank you to all, you folks never disappoint, collectively this site is like an old wise friend that you can ask about most anything and will get a good response from experience...
I was thinking primarily of places for reloading components and such, maybe a few bricks of .22 or 9's but now i have a more rounded itinerary.
I have been to a buccees once and recall some fudge from there kind of fondly...not to take away from Loves etc but they really do raise the bar on bringing a little comfort to travelling...

I will have this thread open as I go... I'm kind of wondering how some of those chocolate covered banana chips would go with the pulled pork...sweeetnessss...
My travelling companion does the NY-FL run a couple times a year and loves a scenic detour so we will very likely put some of those drives on the to do list...
I had worried about having nothing to do now thinking I may not have enough time...
As always my thanks to the community here, I haven't been active here in recent years as life kind of happened to me and threw me for a loop... I am just lately re discovering how much I enjoy this hobby andthe good spirit and kindness of this community.

Skyline drive as it goes over the top of the Shendoah Mtns.is worth the effort to see all by itself.

While at Quantico, VA the ones of us who had motorcycles would make the run 3-5 times a year.

For shooting type stuff maybe Palmetto State Armory?
I’d stop at Wilmington NC for a walk around the USS North Carolina, or
Charleston SC to tour Fort Sumter / Patriot’s Point.
