    Thompson-Center 54 cal Renegade owners manual/parts breakdown

Title says it all, giving my TC 54cal Renegade to my grandson, need an owners manual and parts breakdown. This was bought back 30+ years ago and can't find my owners manual. S&W bought them out about 2007. Need to disassemble the trigger housing to clean. Has been hanging on the wall over front door for 20+ years, really needs cleaning. Any info will be appreciated, thanks Norman.

I've got a book that came with either my Renegade or my Cherokee from at least that long ago, that is a general information booklet. It is red, has 64 pages and is titled "Shooting Black Powder Guns". It has loads, cleaning information etc. If I had an owner's manual, I don't remember it and didn't keep it. Taking the lock off is easy, I do it every time I shoot it, to clean it. Take the barrel off, then unscrew the screw in the stock on the left side and pull the lock out of it's mortise. Remove the trigger guard and the trigger housing should be easy to unscrew and remove. It's very simple, it's just an arm that trips a lever in the lock. All the cleaning that you could want to do can be done like this, though I really don't think the trigger will need to be removed

    .

If you know how, then maybe it's time for you to mentor him while your grandson does it.

He will learn better from a hands-on experience, than he would from any book.

It is easy enough to remove the lock and trigger assembly. It isn't necessary to disassemble them, flush the gunk out with brake cleaner and oil the moving parts. I have taken the lock apart to clean up a couple of burrs, and make it operate smoother. hc18flyer
