Ithaca Model 37 Featherlight 16 gauge barrel

This barrel has two scratches on it, both at the lug. I would like $100 shipped for this barrel. I think it’s marked Modified. Blue is in great condition, other than one small rub spot ahead of the mounting lug. Bore and chamber are perfect. No rust anywhere in barrel or chamber.
Has the original red front sight on it.
If I’m off on the price, let me know by pm, please.

early or late production ? - early models require fitting + are not interchanhgeable like later production -

Got to be later production as it has an interrupted type of thread on the shank of the barrel. Basically a slide in and quarter turn setup. Barrel lug has a captured detent ball and and a recessed hole on the outside to attach to the magazine tube with a screw?

    I hope this helps.

iirc serial number is the only accurate way to know -

Non- interchangeable Ithacas typically have the serial stamped on the barrel as well. Check the 4 to 7 O'clock position of the barrel just in front of the chamber area. Not saying it's always there, but in most cases I've seen this.

the serial number on frame still has to be above # 855000 to be interchangeable, even with no serial number on barrel itself -

I’m pretty sure all early guns had the barrel serialized to the receiver. You can get lucky and get early ones that swap.

Both use interrupted threads and come off. There are some later model exceptions like the Turkeyslayer and Deerslayer 3 where the barrel is not removable.

    1. It is a Full choke barrel. See the number 4 stamped on the barrel ? 4 = Full, 2 = Mod, 1 - I. Cyl in the Ithaca world

    2. There is something about that barrel that should not be there. See the line with the letters stamped around it. That is the line that Ithaca used to index the early
pitched thread (non-interchangeable) barrels to the fixtures for machining. The barrel (after it was threaded) was screwed into the receiver it was being matched to,
and the line stamped. Then the interruptor cuts, the barrel lug being soldered on, the sight hole being drilled threaded and tapped, all ran off that line.

    3. Do you know (have ?) the gun the barrel was fitted to ?

    4. Can you post a couple straight on side views of the threads (or vees) so I can see if they are parallel or pitched.
