    Springfield Bolt Marked With X

I acquired an 03a3 a number years ago and just put in the back of the safe. Someone varnished the stock and put white paint in the lettering on the receiver. I got it out to restore it back to original shape much a possible and make it a shooter. In examining the bolt it is parkerized but seems a little rough. In addition there is an x marked on the top flat of the bolt handle. The underside of the handle has one pin point n indention and a semicircle wit a small number
I think. It looks to me like it is a marking what did not come out due to the angle the edge of the bolt. I am suspicious of this bolt body. has any one else seen something like this or know about these markings

Your rifle has a Smith Corona complete bolt or bolt body.
Mix and match parts is common amongst milsurps.

That look on your face, when you shift into 6th gear, but it's not there.

All WWII era Military arms are 75+ years old and many passed through many hands up to today. I laugh when folks ask:
"Is this or that original?" Who would know?

I have appraised arms for 45 years and must say in some cases, "I do not know" because some fakes are that good.
