The PCP doesn't "recompress the air" behind the pellet. The pressure is decaying from the tank to the muzzle. As the pellet moves the pressure is decreasing. If the pellet is seeing 2200psi the instant when the valve opens, it is seeing less every inch it moves down the barrel. Released Air is Cold ! period! Air only gets hot as it is being compressed.

There is a saying I know about, You can make anything work in your Head. Making it work in the Real World is much harder, and that is all that counts..

My Father was the perfect example of this in action, as he tried many times to make impossible things work, that he could only make work in his head. Wasted a lot of money doing it too!

I'm a tinkerdink, I have wasted a lot of money on things, but on things that did work I more than made up for it.
I guess that may be part of the reason the company I work for does not want me to retire.
Sometimes the challenge does make it worth it.
I have always thought it did, I figured it was better than peeing it away at the local bar.

No he was just trying to show me that it would work like he said it would after I told him it wouldn't. The thing was, I had been to school on the things he was trying, and knew exactly why they wouldn't work, and tried to get him to understand why, but he thought he had a better understanding of what I did for a living than I did. He was a Pilot, and I worked for So Cal Edison in Steam Generation and went to their Steam Generation School, where I and a Friend I had grown up with, graduated with the highest scores in the History of the School!. We both Aced the final exam! No one previously or since has scored 100% on that test!

My dad was trying to make and Oldsmobile Toronado 455CI gas engine run on steam that he was going to recycle after use so it only required 1 gallon of water to operate the car? I tried to convince him that 1 gallon of water would not even turn the engine over 1 revolution and it damn sure wouldn't do it twice. Luckily he couldn't afford to try it so that was good.

However the 100MPG Carburetor did come to fruition and I rode with him on the test run from Sherman Oaks to Santa Maria and back and when we calculated the Fuel Mileage it worked out to slightly less than 15 MPG which was about 2 MPG less that the car got with the original Carb! 1978 Olds 98 Sedan.

Apparently someone did think it worked, because the car got stolen and the Carb was in the trunk, and the only thing that was missing when the cops found the car was the 100 MPG Carb that was in the trunk! So somebody was scared. There was way too many people that knew about that project, and word got out, and someone was very interested in making sure it didn't go farther. Teh idea was sound It just wasn't executed as well as it could have been.

He spent about $20K on that project.
