I found Winchester SPP, at a local pawn shop, $69.00 (K) he had two, they now have a new home. I check that pawn shop whenever I can.

I can't get excited about a $0.07 primer, which is also about the current cost per each of an inflated gas check (iirc). That each are nearly twice the cost of a single handloaded 45ACP round from my stockpiled and cast components, make me worry that some of you will have to earn a fortune to shoot in the volumes many of us heretofore have enjoyed. I hope wages have kept up with inflation, high interest rates, low supply, and high demand.

It is all relative.

For those who did or could not plan and were looking at $150/k during the peak of the panic, $70/k for American primers is welcome news.

I am well stocked, and $70/k is above my price point as well, but at least pricing is moving down and that is good news.

I believe we will get in the $50/k range and that is affordable for most folks. If not, they have three choices. Remanufacture primers, or sell some of the guns they cannot afford to shoot and buy components for a while, or lastly, to get out of shooting CF and sell their useless guns.

Before the panic, primers were in the $35/k range. Folks that are waiting for the "good old days" are not being realistic.

I too wish that Primers would go back to the $3 to $3.5 per 100 rate; but do not see that as possible given the current and future price of labor (Burger Flippers getting $20 and up per hour), Wall Street buying up all the US current and potential producers of Primers - reported as Industry Consolidation (also known as Trusts, Combines, and Monopolies), excessive Governmental Oversight and Legislative actions, and the incessent Litigation by the Greeneies, Commies, and Socialists.

When they get to $50 per thousand I will replenish my dwindling stock of Commercial primers - particularly LP and LR. In the mean time; my cast reloading requirements are being well served by "Remanufacturing" primers for those requirements in LP and LR.

It’s all perspective. Buy a hundred thousand at $70 per and in 15 years or so you can be the guy posting about the cheap ammo you make from the primers you stocked up on “when they were cheap."

Buy them while you can, because come Nov 2024 they will be unobtanium once again.

We’ve all been watching primer prices for a couple years so MidSouth’s sale price is encouraging.
I don’t want to look a gift horse in the mouth but what does this sale tell us?
Are they doing it because they’re great people? They’ve lowered prices on most brands and sizes of primers for this sale.
Are they trying to free up capital locked up in stock they bought at the top of the market? Doubt that because they didn’t have SPPs at any price for a long time.
For years we’ve been told higher materials and labor costs along with a crazy demand for loaded ammo were the reasons for component shortages and ridiculous prices. Ammo availability is better now and prices are down some. I haven’t been watching but has anyone noticed powder prices coming down? As many have repeatedly said, market manipulation must be part of the problem (for us).

We are seeing more online stores with US made primers in stock, but so far with limited sizes and brands available, and not at MidSouth’s price, 20 to 30% less than the current average.
Either they are turning them over at cost or wholesale prices are coming down. If wholesale prices are dropping other stores will follow suit. I sure hope so. I also hope they’ll wind up around 5 cents each by year’s end, but somehow I don’t see manufacturers or this administration letting that happen.
