    What Holster for Ruger Vaquero?

    I have a friend that is looking for a holster for a Vaquero.
    What other holster for other guns will fit 4.5” barrel?

    Depends on the Vaquero. The original is larger than the New Vaquero. I suspect that any holster that works with a SAA will work with the New Vaquero.

    I made my own.

    Original, large frame version; for field use, not show.

    My Ruger's belt holster is stamped Bianchi 1L Lawman , tan leather , right hand with a safety snap strap , high ride on belt ... I give it a 5 star rating .
    You get to choose right or left hand , and barrel length ... Bianchi makes the holsters to fit the various models of Super Blackhawks , Blackhawks and Vaquero's ... you place an order for the model you have , no guessing about fit .

    Not a Vaquero, but I have a Mernickle holster marked ‘SAA’ for my 3.75” Super Blackhawk. It rides well, holds the gun nicely but not too tight.

    ^^^^^^^^^THIS^^^^^^^^^^

    If it's an Original Vaquero,, (full sized frame) a Blackhawk holster will work.

    El Paso Saddlery;

    Tom Threepersons. The Bianchi was copied from it. The Bianchi has an open bottom. Will let in crud if you sit on ground.
    The El Paso is closed. Better all around, El Paso gives the option of safety strap or hammer thong.

    Simply Rugged pancake. Option of cross draw when riding in a car. I went with the loaded option with 6 shell loops on the holster.

    Started out shooting a Ruger New Vaquero, then switched to a Cimarron. Same holster fits both very nicely.

    How much money is in the budget? It makes a big difference! The last several years, I've gotten all of mine from either Mike Barranti or Simply Rugged. Both are excellent quality, but the Barranti's are better finished (and more expensive) and take considerably longer to get, unless you order one that's in stock.

    Look up Oklahoma Leather holsters. They are very reasonable and there are quite a few variations.

    I carry my Blackhawk w/4 and5/8 barrel in a Hunter 45108 0610. It's right handed with a retaining strap that snaps.
