    Pic of some Stevens cartridges

I always liked the Stevens single shot rifle cartridges. Long and skinny. Wish I had a rifle chambered as such.
Thought I'd post a pic for guys that never seen any. I think they are cool.

I'm sure you can get a chamber reamer made if you really want one. But then you'd need a supply of brass so you could feed it.

I have an antique 1870 Frank Wesson Pocket Shotgun that most likely used a Stevens .38-55 shot shell (info is scare on these shotguns. Fewer than 50 were made). I made up a few black powder shot shells with .357 Mag brass, and a few others with round balls sized to .356. It shot well.

Stevens and Maynard were in Chicopee, MA and Frank Wesson was in Worchester, MA. Those towns are about 40 miles apart, and connected by train, so they probably worked together on projects.

28-30 shot. Only 25yds but offhand. It’s a dandy cartridge Out of a Stevens mod 45 (44 1/2 action) subsequent shots were not as impressive.

I've always liked those cartridges too although I've yet to see one in person. There is something therapeutic in just looking at them. Possibly it's the association with a simpler time when they were popular.
