    Chelsea M2 clock

I have an old Chelsea M2 US Army clock.
The spring is broken, but I found someone who can fix it.
He said he could still get the spring for it.
It's missing the top half of the case.
Any idea where I might get one???
    Maybe have a replacement made????

Be careful about those old Message center clocks, some of them have "Radium" glow at night dials and hands and if any of the radium dust or particles is ingested by a person can be very unhealthy.

I have an old wrist watch with radium in it.
It's still glowing, but not as bright.
    Watch still works too.

Many of the women who were employed during the war to apply the radius to the watches developed cancer in later years due to the exposure to it.

I have never seen one of the clocks you have. Would lie to see a photo of it. As far as finding the piece you need, possibly fleabay? I'm guessing that there must be clock collector forums? Possible do a search and make a post on then to see if anyone possibly has what you need.

    It's at the repair shop.
I'll post a picture when I get it back.

If you are not able to find an original case, it should not too hard to have one made. Our local high school vocational school even does projects like yours. You might check in with your local vo-tech school.

The guy who did the repair told me someone added the red hand.
It looked to be hand made.
    Interesting.
According to the serial number, it was made between 1940-1944.

The red hand was not added, but came that way. It is used either to indicate “Zulu time” or the time in another time zone. Some will look a bit more orange…kinda depends on how faded the red is.

I can’t tell if it’s missing or not, but the 2 prongs in the bottom of the case would have held the winging key.

It does have the prongs and the original key.
It's been ticking away, and keeps correct time.

Those old "military clocks" were works of art. We have one naval wall clock and two aircraft clocks from WW2. The naval piece was from a destroyer escort given to Peru after the war.
As per the nornal, Peru used it until it was "beyond repair" then scraped it. The black 8 day ended up in Arequipa where I rescued it from further abuse.
It now resides at the Vermilion County War Museum with the two 8 day aircraft watches.
