    Ideal .38 Caliber Core Mold

The Ideal .44 caliber core molds throws a .39 caliber slug that works well with an alternative plug* to create castings for forty caliber paper patching. What about the .38 caliber core molds? Anyone using them to make paper patched boolits?

*Like for a flat round point.

I do but it's not a core mould it's a core swage die for HP swaged bullets. But I will say that it makes a very good 100 yard wad cutter that cuts a very clean hole through paper LOL.

As manufactured the .38 core mold throws a .312" diameter cylinder adjustable to go from zero to over an inch long.
I suppose cutting 8mm drive bands in it would be a possibility.

You can adjust the diameter putting a knurl on the shank. You can increase the diameter .015" more or less depending how aggressive you get with the knurling tool.
A course aluminum file will work if you don't have a knurl roller.

    Hey Lead pot.
When you knurl for bore riding can you make a lubed section that engraves on the rifling?

If you look at that photo above the top PP. You can knurl it up from bore diameter to groove diameter like the bottom shell.
It holds as much as a 4 groove bullet and you can increase a bore diameter for a proper fit for the PP.

Sounds like it could be a good way to make the bore rider portion of a lubed boolit engrave on the rifling at loading.

Yes that will put lube on the bore riding portion.
