Jim Tweto killed in plane crash

Legendary Bush Pilot Jim Tweto and one other person were killed in a plane crash this morning. I am currently in Unalakleet AK. I didn't personally know him but the friend I am staying with in Unalakleet is a very good friend of Jim's. Condolences to Jim's family.

I never met him, but I have a good friend who knew him well. He says jim was a good man.

They swore, if we gave them our weapons, that the wars of the tribes would cease.
But when we disarmed They sold us and delivered us bound to our foe,

Enjoyed his/family show…….Always good scenery from AK and bush piloting……As a fellow pilot, hard to hear……

“Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth
    And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
Sunward I’ve climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth
of sun-split clouds, – and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of – wheeled and soared and swung
High in the sunlit silence. Hov’ring there,
I’ve chased the shouting wind along, and flung
My eager craft through footless halls of air . . .
Up, up the long, delirious, burning blue
I’ve topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace
Where never lark nor even eagle flew –
And, while with silent lifting mind I’ve trod
The high untrespassed sanctity of space,
Put out my hand, and touched the face of God.”

I have never met the Man but may He RIP. Aviation in Alaska is often sadly tragic!
