    Lee Shaver modified

Super excited! I was looking for a 40-65 but was having trouble finding one. So I found a new Uberti 1885 Highway in 45-70. Took it to the range and fired 40 rounds through it, cleaned it, packed in the shipping box and sent it to Lee Shaver. Lee relined the barrel with a T J hammer forged liner in 40-65 1.14 twist. He then did a trigger job and mounted his supreme sights. So now I'm working up some loads and can't wait to get it out for her maiden voyage. Rob

Lee Shaver is an excellent gunsmith and a really good guy. You can’t go wrong dealing with him. Good luck with your new toy.

Was it shooting that poorly that it needed to be relined?

As I stated before I wanted a 40-65. So instead of a 45-70 with a 20 twist barrel it is now a 40-65 with a 14 twist. Also instead of a 5lb trigger pull it now has a 2lb trigger pull. Also, instead of a buckhorn site it now has vernier sites.
