    Ruger mk3

So I picked up a mk3 22/45 from my lgs for a steal. It already has a weaver/ dovetail rail on it.
Anyone ever used something like those tiny 3x prism scopes on these? Or just stick with a red dot?

I put a few hundred rounds through it seems like it shoots about 2 inches under my usual sight picture but very accurate and fun so far

If you have astigmatism a prism is the only way to go! I have a 1.5x prism on my Beretta CX4 Storm and it the only red dot type sight that I can shoot that don't have a comet tail look.

Haha that’s great to know! On my AR my 3moa dot is probably closer to a 6-7. Never tried the prisms before but they appear to be very nice and sometimes battery free

I have a Mark IV Hunter but I'm not talking about optics...just a suggestion....if ya need to really clean it go to the ruger site and follow their videos on disambly and reassembly....they make the cleaning thing a joy!
When guns are outlawed only criminals and the government will have them and at that time I will see very little difference in either!

I have an old Ruger MK I T on which I mounted a Bushnell Phantom 2.5x about 45 years ago. It is my go to 22 handgun and I have several.

I usually avoid magnified optics on handguns unless it's for a specialized, shoot-from-a-rest kind of application. Red dot all the way.

I have a pair of Ruger Mk III 22/45's. His and hers, both have 2.5 moa Red Dots. Both will put 10 into a water bottle cap at 20 feet without touching the sides.

And they'll do it surprisingly quickly with a little practice.

Mine is good but momma is just pure wicked with any kind of hand gun.
I truly believe we need to get back to basics.
