Best Oil for Attic Fan

Can anyone recommend a good oil for an attic fan? I have two fans and it seems like I take one down every other year to clean and relube. I've used the old 3in1 motor oil, specialized electric motor oil, and maybe even Mobil 1. I have opened them up and it looks like the lube has flung out at times and turned into varnish. Any motor gurus out there?

Only thing I can recommend is a DuPont Multi-Lube in a spray can. It is a dry Teflon/wax based lubricant. I successfully use it on window A/C units on the evap/condenser fan motor bearings. Once they start to chirp a good spray of the lube directly on the shaft/bearing and let it dry (carrier needs to evaporate).

Works like a charm. I find it is also good on storm door hinges (piano hinge type).

I haven't been able to find what I originally purchased. But there is a thread here (within the past year?). That shows it is nominally available as a motorcycle chain lube. As it is a dry lube it doesn't pick up grit and dirt which would then grind up the chain.

For difficult applications, I also use motorcycle chain lube.
The big box stores and maybe auto parts stores have it.

It's not 'once and done', but it does last a lot longer than regular oil.

Thanks for the ideas. I already have chain lube and chain wax, both aerosol. Never thought of trying something like that.

I haven't seen an home attic fan in 50 years.

I use Mobile one 0-30 in my swamp cooler fan lube cups. Fill at startup then again mid season if needed and again when winterizing. Been doing it for 20 plus years with no problems and bearings are still tight.

20 weight non-detergent oil. My fan has been running for 30 years now with no bearing issues using this oil.

The oil holes on my fan get a few drops of Break Free CLP. Has teflon.

I had an exhaust fan that ran 24/7 for almost eight years. One day it stopped. I figured it had done it’s job and simply replaced the entire unit. When I dismantled the old one, the two sealed bearings where in top shape. If I replace a bearing these days, I always go for sealed roller types if available.

Look up My T Grease. It sprays on liquid, then sets as a gel. Stays where you put and is durable. I use it for frozen tailgate mechanisms, it gets things moving and doesn't evaporate off. It's a must have for my toolbox.
