A man’s heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps.
Proverbs 16:9

When the pilot of a Cessna 208 traveling from the Bahamas to Florida became incoherent and fell against the controls, one of the passengers, Darren Harrison, radioed traffic control for help. Darren wasn’t a pilot, but suddenly he was responsible for flying and landing the plane. Thankfully, one of the air traffic controllers was also a flight instructor and calmly helped him safely land the plane.1

I’m certain the air traffic controller didn’t anticipate walking someone through how to land a plane when he arrived at work that day, but he was “in the right place at the right time” to help.

Whatever God has for you today, whether it’s teaching children or running errands, He has placed you exactly where He wants you to be. You are “in the right place at the right time” to make a difference for Him through your words and actions. You never know how or when He will use you to encourage or help those around you. Be ready to be used by Him today!

God’s plans for you are better than any plans you have for yourself.

That may be true, but at times it is challenging to understand what God's purpose is.

Has the child who is raped "in the right place at the right time"?

I do not believe God directs every facet of our lives because I cannot understand how God works. It is above my pay scale to understand how God works. If I were to believe God puts a child in the situation to be raped, I would have a difficult time accept that God is good. I do not have enough faith to make that concept work. For me to believe in God, I revert to believing God does not direct every aspect of our lives.

The "understanding" may come when I go home; but I certainly do not believe God needs to explain how he works to me either as a mortal man or to my eternal soul. That will be for Him to decide.

I agree with you. God may put a person "in the right place at the right time" occasionally. But as a general rule, people end up where they are due to someone's choice, circumstances and/or coincidence. This idea is repeatedly shown in biblical history.

These terrible things may be attributed to an absence of God-- not God's doing or design. If God was present in the child's home the child would be raised and protected in a safe environment with caring adult supervision. If the rapist had God present in his life such actions wouldn't obsess him. Where God is not allowed or admitted a vacuum exists for evil to enter.
