Liquid lube of Keith bullets?

Another post looking for info.
How does the Lee liquid lube work on Keith style bullets with the big grease grooves?
Or should I just spend the bucks and get a press for sizing and lubing?

The Lee Liquid Alox works. But will build up in seating die. Clean often.

Best to size bullets. So a lube/sizer is faster.

The Lee push thru size die works great. But must alox bullets 2 times. Before and after sizing.

been using it on Keith SWC's with no problem for decades - i have never had a problem with build up on any caliber seating die ever, too thick of coating could be probable cause ?

If you can afford it, get a lube/sizer. And if you can afford it, get a Star, especially if you want to do a bunch of shooting.

Lee liquid lube works ok but it’s kind of a mess. I’ve been pan lubing lately and if you work out a system it’s pretty quick. I use toaster oven to melt lube in pan with bullets in. Cool off , pull bullets and insert new ones in holes left by the ones you just removed. I usually have 3 pans going in different stages.

I use only liquid lube on my pistol bullets, including those big grease grooves. I size in a push-through sizer before lubing, and also put on gas checks before lubing. One coat. Let it get really dry before seating in a case, and there shouldn't be any significant buildup in seating dies. I use a 60/40 blend of floor wax and Alox-- which seems to dry a little harder and which limits build-up in dies.

I asked Lee specifically how fast their lube was designed for. They said 1100 fps. I shoot many lubed & PC bullets up to 1800 fps. What is your velocity range?

You might consider dip lubing with the Lee Liquid Alox. It will keep the nose clean.

A thin coat of LLA is so easy. Just use a little bit with 75-100 bullets and swish around a lot in you plastic jar. I’m in the middle of pan lubing 45 colt and 30-30 and trying to find a good one. But alox is adequate and works well in my 30-30 , 170 grains and imr 4227. Low velocity about 1600 fps. Only one I hit steel at 200 yds.

I've used lla in full power rifle loads using the lee 309-150-F. Granted i didn't shoot a lot of them, maybe 50? It worked.

I have come to appreciate Johnson’s Paste Wax thinned with mineral spirits as a tumble lube for Keith bullets. It is a little smokey but seems to work fine. My loads are not fast - under 1000 fps - they are basic Unique loads. They are sized with the cheap Lee push through sizers, then tumble lubed. I like the simplicity of this technique - both in method and ingredients. But I would not expect it to work with loads over 1000 fps.
