Not getting PC to coat well. Oops.

Was PCing some today and didn't seem to get very good coverage with the shake and bake method. After 2 batches and one of them being coated twice it hit me, I didn't pre heat the boolits before putting them in the tub to shake and swirl. 3rd batch heated to where it was difficult to hold. Wow what a difference it made. No myth there. It made a big difference in how well it coated. At least it made a big difference for me.

Way to go, and now you will never forget.
If you are in a basement where its cool, getting the powder to stick is hard.

Interesting, but surprising. Never heard of pre-heating the bullets. I do shake and bake cold and never had any coverage issues. Are you using the right kind of plastic tub? Sounds to me like inadequate static electricity.

I've warmed them on a heating pad when I PCed in the garage in winter. Works well

just guessing but I also feel any dampness was removed doing this

Dampness-- good thought. I'm in dry northern Nevada and never thought of that.

Preheating boolits works great, but I overheated a batch recently. Makes the powder act "damp".
Should have cleaned em off & started over but I baked em, turned out blobby, inconsistent.
They'll shoot but look awful. Ruined some real pretty 9mms from a single-cavity HP mould I bought
on Swappin & Sellin. Hopefully I'll learn...

Try this if you use the plastic container shake method. Shake the living hell out of them HARD. My problem was humidity not making static. An acquaintance told me he can coat them in a hard rain down pour in Texas. Well I tried it and he's right.

Yup preheating can make a big difference!

TOO MUCH powder can also result in POOR COATING.

HERE IS how I coat mine.
