    Pistol out of parts

I had a bunch of spare parts just sitting around for a while.
So I decided to build a pistol out of all those parts.
The barrel is a Spanish made .45 cal.
That I think is from a Tower Pistol.
The lock is for a small rifle , but the hammer would not line up with the angle of the barrels nipple angle.
So I replaced the hammer with another one and Re Shaped it so it functions.
I built the stock from a block of African wood that I had laying around for years.
The pistol came out kind of nice.
It is kind of a combination of different designs kind of based around a Kentucky pistol design.
Now I can't wait to get out and shoot it.
Pictures will be posted a little later.
My computer is not posting pictures right now , but a friend will post them for me.

    Thank you Armoredman.
    As you can see.
I have another barrel cut off piece and some more locks and triggers , plus plenty of wood left.
So I will be building another pistol when I get around to it.
That barrel cut off piece is a .54 cal.

Someone else looks at that and thinks, hummph, pile of junk not worth throwing away. LAGS looks and says, I can do something with that! It is very nice and well balanced.

I am going to take it out and shoot it next week.
I may add a ram rod to it, but I rarely use the rod that is mounted on the pistols to load them.
I agree that it kinda looks like a Horse Pistol.
One of the hardest parts about this build was , I no longer have a Bandsaw to cut the stock to shape.
But things like this project can show you guys that You can build things with out having access to top quality power tools.

    Very nice, great job.

I checked the dates on the pictures.
It looks like I started cutting the wood for the stock back on April 8 th .
So it looks like the pistol was done in one month.
I did not work on it every day.
Nor did I spend more that a couple hours each day that I worked on it because I have other projects constantly going on.

I have a box of orphan parts here, thanks for the reminder! I should do something with them.
The solid soft lead bullet is undoubtably the best and most satisfactory expanding bullet that has ever been designed. It invariably mushrooms perfectly, and never breaks up. With the metal base that is essential for velocities of 2000 f.s. and upwards to protect the naked base, these metal-based soft lead bullets are splendid.

Forget everything you know about loading jacketed bullets. This is a whole new ball game!

    @ waksupi.
Inspiring others to build things out of parts that they have is the main reason I did this post.
Also doing things like this gives me a break from re building my TC rifles.
A friend contacted me about repairing a Italian Kentucky rifle that somehow the stock got broken in two.
He would rather that I repair the stock , rather than trying to find a replacement or spending the money to build a new stock.
I haven't seen the damage yet.
But I bet I can get it firing again and not look too bad.
