Well it looks a lot better than the Flat Purple it came with. You can see the grain now and there is a little bit of character to be seen as well. Good Job!!!
It is good to see more people getting into spiffing up their guns. There is a lot that can be done to "Generic Wood" that enhances the beauty, and pretty much anything is an improvement.
If you buy a Birchwood Casey Stock finishing kit it also has the concise instructions included, and if followed even close to what they say, will result in a very nice job indeed. It really ain't that hard! If you can Read and operate Sand Paper you are pretty much good to go.
The other side of this is the "Personal Satisfaction" of a job well done, not the least of which might be the "satisfaction of fixing of it," if it doesn't' go right? Sometimes you've got to be willing to start over. Not being willing to accept Mediocrity is key to the road to professionalism .
Two keys to Craftsmanship. 1. Attention to Detail 2. Personal Responsibility. Attention to Detail is obvious. The second part is not letting the things you found wrong in the first part,,, go out the door!
You done good!
