    First blood for Snubby

I wanted to try to snag this large tree limb and pull it out of the water.
But then I saw this plain moccasin so I reached in my back pocket and popped it with my #11/12 shot Speer capsule .38 Special load from my Snubby Rossi.
It thrashed about for a bit then fell in the water.
I could only get about 12 feet away without swimming.
So I’ll call it a win.

I load my own in 44 using 6 shot. The largest was a 5 foot long bull snake in a basement. Wiggled for about a 5 count was all. Snake was about 20 feet away.

Good shot on your and stubys part.

Snubbies are underrated. I have a pre model 10 made in 1948 that shoots surprisingly well at 25 yards.

    Yes they are.
I haven’t put a squirrel in the pot with this one, but I will. And it carries so well.

I have at this moment in my jeans pocket a three inch barrel rossi on small frame loaded with four speer shot loads and the empty chamber under the hammer, it is dedicated to water moccasins. I never shoot the various black snakes species here and some of them will kill moccasins.

A cut down .303 Brit shell, reformed into a very long .44 mag., filled with #7 1/2 does it for me. The brass runs the entire length of the cylinder, right out to the face. Holds alot!

Usually a j-frame .38 is easier for me to carry around in my pocket than is a .44, but the .44 does a more lethal job of it.

Carried a J-frame for decades. Never left home without it! (and was never under-gunned, either!)

    Good shooting!

I have a J-frame .22 kit gun that I would not trade for love or money. Aging eyes forced me to give up on a shrouded hammer .38 snub, much to my regret.

You should have caught that bull snake in your hands- they are so gentle…….
    You know I’m kidding!
Attitude and aggression to spare on those guys! Just no venom- but I’ve heard that no other snake will mess with one.

Snubbies are just as accurate as their longer barrel siblings. The shorter sight radius makes less than perfect sight picture a miss.

I shot a couple of western diamondbacks with a CCI 45 ACP shot load and was super impressed with how effective it was. I was close but the first 6" of the snakes, just went away.
