Cigar Punch From Sharpened Steel 7.62x39 AK Spent Case

Finally -- a use for spent steel 7.62x39 AK-47 shells with Berdan primers -- a Cigar Punch, for easier draw and nicer mouth feel.

Easier than pie -- sharpen the case mouth with fine sandpaper on your belt sander.

Add a 10-24 eyebolt after tapping the primer hole, if you want, so it's distinctive.

Slip on a bit of vinyl tubing, if needed, to protect the cutting edge, but it can be resharpened easily.

In use, carefully twist into the cap of your favorite stogie. Don't push -- use a back and forth twisting action, until the thin cap is cut through. The result: a perfect, .32 caliber drawing hole that lasts the whole cigar without getting mushy or releasing pieces into your mouth.

    Lighter 'er up.

And if you lose it, who cares? Make another. You'll be the talk of the Cigar Bar.

Silly question, what do you use to clean the case to prevent contamination to the cigar and you?

I eat burned powder for breakfast! i've certainly breathed a lot of gunsmoke, too.

A simple washing with soap and water will do. Blow it out with compressed air.

Seriously, though, you are literally cutting only about 1/32" into the cigar with barely any of the shell in contact.

Also, seriously, the act of puffing on burning tobacco is probably more hazardous than any powder remnants ....

That why I led with silly, I don't smoke so it struck me as odd, that's all. Still cool though.

That would certainly work better than stabbing the end with the Phillips blade on my Swiss Army knife! Ask me how I know……
    Neat idea.

    Cool

Years ago, a buddy got into smoking fine cigars.
One time he brought over a Weatherby brass he'd picked up.
Taking the double ended de-burring tool off the bench, he sharpened the case mouth just for doing that.

I thought that was so clever, I made one for myself.

Plenty of steel case stuff, 22-45 diameters! Pick the hole size you want!

That’s an interesting idea. I used to use cutters, but how many times was without one and ended up biting the end off. A nice clean cut makes for a better smoke.
