    Finnish chopper

Just ordered one of these to carry in the woods. I like a carbon steel blade and the excellent scabbard sealed the deal.

It appears to be highly utilitarian-- but what is the purpose of the hole in the end of the blade?

Honestly I don't know. If I find out I 'll post it. Maybe to hang it on the wall.

Seems logical, although it has a sheath. But maybe if the sheath wears out or is lost the hole would come into play.

Reading down in the link, the first line confirms the hole is for hanging.

So it's not to make it sound like a Stukka dive bomber when you swing it through the air?
