    Question spanish destroyer extractor

    Good Afternoon ,
I have a Spanish destroyer 9mm Largo rifle.
This little rifle came to me with no extractor.
Does anyone know anything about making one or finding one ?
I know, I know, good luck right?
It would be easier to make one if I had a broken one to go off of.
Just looking for a place to start.
    Thanks

    Question for you?
Are you considering converting your 9mm Largo to 9x19 9mm Luger
Years ago I converted a bunch of Astra 400's to 9x19 with an insert pressed into the chamber and then reamed to clean up with a 9mm Luger chamber reamer.

Good luck. Here is a really old thread:

    I agree try gunbroker.

Do not fire 9x23 Winchester ammo in it, it's way too high a pressure. My father knows someone who did and it destroyed the bolt. Not sure where that rifle is.

I might have some Starline Largo Brass around here somewhere. I was loading it for my father in his Destroyer. He sold his but he gave me all the loading stuff back (I just used my 9x23 Win dies for it).

    Update,
    I used a CZ 7.62 collar and a 22 mag claw extractor.
    I had to start somewhere.
So I milled the extractor to length and width. What I found was that the collar location, on the extractor, was too far forward by almost 4mm.
The collar also had a little too much play.
This first attempt almost worked. So back to the drawing board.
I'll keep you posted on the progress.

Weld it up and mill it. Of course I have no idea what it looks like

    Evening ,
Well I did it . I made a working extractor.
I took a CZ 527 collar and modified a CZ 527 22 mag claw extractor.
Not having the original extractor or even a photo of one set me back.
I actually made two extractors , Broke one .
Took days . After making a working extractor, I found this to be a PITA.
However it is definitely something worth doing as I know I will enjoy the little carbine.

Making a workable Destroyer extractor and selling them would turn out to be a quite a little side business. I'd buy several. I don't shoot the carbine much for fear of breaking that part. If you need pics or dimensions, I can send them to you.

    Sir,
Please send photos front and back and as many dimensions as you can.
This will aid every one . I have a feeling that each extractor, will have to custom fitted.
How ever making a universal blank would make repair a lot easier.

Here's a few pics. More (and better) if needed. I'll turn the flash off.
From what I understand, it's the collar that holds it on that's the weak spot.
I have measurements when you need them.

    Range report:
    I re-loaded 6 rounds:
4 made from 9mm largo brass:
    2 I made from 350 Legend brass.
I used Speer load date and used 124gn HP's with Unique.
These where hard to feed. Feed ramp did not like the shape.
All 6 round fired well, soft shooting.
My extractor aided in chambering and did eject the spent case just not outside the rifle.
Might eject outside the rifle if I used more force. I just was not up to working the action that hard.
    Fun little rifle,
Thanks for all the input and advise.

I am not totally familiar with the Destroyer even though I had one years ago.
But you might try making a new ejector that is a little longer.
I do that on regular Mausers to make them eject better and with less force.
The Mauser ejectors worked great if used like a combat rifle shooting fast.
But The longer extractor got the shell to eject a tick sooner and quieter when I use the rifles for hunting.
Just something you might want to play with.

LAGS has a good suggestion. When I build small ring Mauser's in 7.62x39 I modify the ejector box from an Arisaka type 99 to fit it. This moves the ejector farther forward and aids if kicking out the shorter brass. Making an ejector blade with a longer face might help in getting the spent cases to clear the action.
