Which is better; 431244 or 429244?

If you had to choose between an Ideal 431244 and a Lyman 429244 which one would you choose and why?
Can someone explain the key differences between them?

I don't have a pin gauge set and I haven't slugged my guns.

Older Ideal molds generally were not true to size. When they changed from the 431244 to the 429244 the only initial change was the stamp. Your question then is answered by what era is the Lyman mold and what are the respective dimensions?

Bion, I have and use both; for what it's worth, I favour the Ideal. Bullets drop better, and..well... I don't exactly know why -- but much more dust collects on the Lyman

I'm not sure but it has "935" (cherry number?) stamped below the model number. The 431244 is new enough to have vent grooves, so late 50's on that one if I'm not mistaken.

I had my #429244 opened up to .432" and like it a lot better.

I would assume the only change between the two is the stamp from that era.

The "935" you mention is the number assigned to the mold blocks. This was stamped on each half of the mold so that they know the two blocks are a pair while being manufactured.
