    Suggestions with WC 852

Won a local auction and included was WC 852. Not sure what lot# but there is 2 pounds and looks good to use.

Anyone used it in 30-06 .308 Win? Suggested grain weight for starting?

    Thank you.

I have a bunch of it. The batch I have is IMR 4831 speed, so that’s what I use for data. Good luck, it’s great stuff!
I firmly believe that you should only get treated by how you act, not by who or what you are!!

Got 8 pounds from Jeff Bartlett many years ago. Instructions on the bottle was to use IMR-4831 data. Loaded lots of 30-06 with Remington 165 gr bulk bullets with no problems at all. Metered great and shot clean.

There are at least two speeds that were available. The "faster" was about like 4350. The "slower" was right in between the 4831s. I had my lot, (slow) pressure tested in the 6.5x55 and it was also right in-between IMR 4831 and H4831 for pressure in the Swede. I've burned a lot of it in 6.5x55, 7x57 and some 3006.

I have the 852(F) fast lot from Bartlett and use 50 grains with a magnum or WW primer in 30-06 with a 150 or 147 FMJ bullet. I have had ignition issues with a standard LR primer so magnum or WW primer cures the issues. I had a jug of the 4831 burn rate and either used it up in my bolt action 30-06 or traded it to someone else. I didn’t want to shoot it in my garand.

There is actually 3 distinct lots all differing quite a bit. Lot number if available helps.
One is H-380. The next is like IMR 4831. The last is like H4831.
The first one can be loaded grain for grain with H-380. The others vary a bit due to application. I used the middle one in
6.5x55 Swede. 44 gr if I recall but would need to check for sure.
