    Casting for the .270 Winchester?

What has been your experience with this caliber and casting?
I think I see a rip in the social fabric, Brother can you spare some ammo?

I use the Lee C277-136-RF. My alloy with powder coat and gas checked weights 138+-1. Actually shot some test loads using IMR 3031 with 36.5 grains and they shot reall good. Shot at 100 yards and the first shot was quarter inch right of the bull. Next two were at seven o’clock in the bull. I thought that’s pretty good. Then my ego took over and the other seven were low left. It was also windy but that isn’t the problem. Ha! Is was me. Will test that load again and do better. I only have the Lee mold and it seems to work for me. I also bought some 170 round nose bullets from member 725 that work good also.

I like the RCBS 150 grain boolit lubed with carnuba blue from WLL. I’ve used W748 but mostly use 10 grains of Red Dot.

An old M70 270 that came into my hands recently took to CB's like a duck to water. It likes that Lee boolit but it loves that NOE 128 gr boolit in either the GC styles or plain base style. The NOE boolit with the gas check likes 13.1 gr of Red Dot (1750 fps) and the Lee boolit likes 30.1 gr of 3031 (2020 fps). I will be using the NOE gas checker boolit at NCBS at the 400 yard and other shoots. The real surprise has been the plain base version of the NOE boolit using 9.3 gr of Red Dot (1400 fps) for great accuracy, no leading, and economy.

My 270 is a Savage (250/300 necked up) and I have used an old Ideal 132gn boolit gas checked and powder coated.

My 6.8x43(6.8SPC) liked the Lee bullet from the start, no load development needed.
I’ve only tried AA2015 and IMR 3031 with great results.
It also worked just fine on a small buck last deer season.
I’m quite fond of my Baby 270.

Always figured this was one caliber I wouldn't cast for and long ago loaded up on j-words. Interested in seeing how this thread progresses.

I shoot the NOE 279-124 in the 6.8 SPC. Aside from that I'm more a 7mm guy.
